This painting is excepcional in that I used pure black. This was a deliberate attempt to highlight the overwhelming burden of fossil fuels. The titular spruce, an endangered tree, swirls in the center. It will probably no longer be found in Poland in a few decades, like many other conifers, as well as birches and chestnut trees. In the lower part I painted hard coal, turning into a vortex of crude oil above, and at the very top into rainbow-shimmering gasoline spilled on the asphalt. It reminds me a bit of the northern lights. This colorful part adds lightness to the whole composition, which draws not only the tree but also the viewer into the vortex. The painting really draws you in and focuses your thoughts, at least I can't stand looking at it for long. That is what makes it unique.
